Wholesale means the buying and reselling of merchandise to retailers and other merchants, and to industrial, institutional, and commercial users, but not (or rarely) to ultimate consumers. A wholesaler thus is a middleman between producer and consumer and, like all middlemen, either takes title to the goods it buys and resells or acts as an agent on behalf of someone else (or an agent middleman;).
